In each of these optical illusions, the vertical lines are parallel. The other elements of the diagrams make them appear to bend or slant.
The puzzles could be used to introduce a lesson on parallel lines, as a fun way to revise the definition of ‘parallel’, or to help students see that estimating without measuring can be misleading.
