Form and Structure

Form and structure are fundamental building blocks of the music of every era and culture. The activities in this section provide coverage of many of the major forms – binary, ternary, rondo, theme and variations, song structure and 12-bar blues.

The tasks develop listening skills and can be used to lead onto composition work, where students can put some of the structures they have learnt about into practice.
