About the author

Jacqueline Lamb spent seven years working as a primary school teacher. She was also a behaviour support teacher and a further education lecturer before becoming manager of the primary behaviour support service for Essex.

Jacqueline has worked with children and young people in the field of social, emotional and behavioural difficulties over a number of years. She has worked particularly on helping children to understand and manage their emotions, and on the associated stress for children in relation to education and life generally. While studying for her Master’s degree at the University of Cambridge, Jacqueline investigated the impact of stress on pupils’ learning and has carried out research relating to stress in primary school playgrounds and its management through peer support.

After completing her training in relaxation skills at the Centre for Stress Management, Jacqueline went on to work with the University of East London and a number of schools in Essex to research the value of relaxation in schools and to promote access to learning and positive mental health. Jacqueline has delivered relaxation training to schools in order to support staff with their own stress management and to enable them to deliver the training to pupils and parents/carers.

Jacqueline has a particular interest in the empowerment of children and young people, enabling them to make positive and appropriate life choices in order to become caring, aspirational and emotionally healthy adults.
