Context: Visual movement

In Year 9, the concept of visual movement, or the ways in which good art and design stimulates the eye and mind of the viewer, is a powerful method of putting the ideas from Year 8 to work in new ways. The opportunities to tackle issues of expressive power and mood are particularly strong.

Approaches to figurative design or abstraction can be used in projects to develop these ideas. Processes include painting and drawing, collage, digital media, printmaking, ceramics and other construction techniques.

Artists and art contexts are integrated into these themes by using appropriate examples of artists’ work as part of the stimulus material to accompany the practical making.
