Introduction
Welcome to KS3 Art & Design.
This resource is designed to support the teaching of Art and Design at Key Stage 3. The key idea is to allow students to experience a variety of fundamental ideas about visual art.
At the heart of the resource is a suite of highly engaging Microsoft® PowerPoint presentations, which take students right to the core of the creative process. Through these, students can see how themed images develop from scratch, with a direct commentary that sets out a useful teaching and learning context.
In addition to the presentations, there is a comprehensive set of resources that can be used to create a whole scheme of work at Key Stage 3 (though many of the resources have been used successfully at Key Stages 4 and 5).
KS3 Art & Design allows Art and Design teachers to capitalise on some of the very exciting opportunities that new technology presents, but at the same time to integrate this with many of the traditional creative methods and materials which are particular to the visual arts.
The materials are designed to support a range of teachers, from experienced heads of department aiming to enrich the curriculum, to NQTs who wish to establish their teaching skills, to non-specialists who need support with good ideas in a solid art context.
