Using additional files

A range of additional files is provided to supplement the onscreen guidance. These may be word processing, presentation or PDF (portable document format) files. To access these, either click on the links found in the resource, or click on the Resources tab and then select Additional files from the left-hand menu. All the files can also be found in the folder on your disc called digital_files. You will need Microsoft® Word and PowerPoint and Adobe Reader, or compatible software, to open the files. If your computer does not already have Adobe Reader installed, visit the Adobe website to download the appropriate installer.

Following a link to a file may open it within a browser window. To save a file so that it can be opened in the relevant software and edited, right-click on the link and select Save Target As.... In the folder where you have saved the file, right-click on the file icon, select Properties and untick the Read-only attribute. Note that if you do not have the fonts used in the files, your operating system will replace them with fonts that you are able to use.

To make PDFs appear in a new window, open Adobe Reader, select Edit>Preferences, click on Internet, and then untick Display PDF in Browser.

Printable material

All the onscreen text has also been included as PDF files, to make it easier to print out. To access these files, click on the Resources tab and then select Printable version.
