Virtual VisitsIn various places throughout Complete RE, the desirability of making visits to places of worship with your students is mentioned. However, the particular challenges of organising such events are known only too well; hence, the value of the virtual visits for bringing religion to life in the classroom is clear. There is no substitute for meeting people from religious communities in order to get a multisensory experience of their beliefs and practices. Although it is not possible to reproduce the smells of places of worship, the virtual visits provide visual and aural stimuli to enhance the learning experience of your students. For information on how to provide the virtual visits on your network for the students, see the technical information on Virtual visits and tests. Presenting the visitsIn order to maximise the learning opportunities afforded by these resources, you are advised to run them through a multimedia projector linked to a set of speakers which will enable you to play the sound files as well as show the images. The very best way of using the virtual visits is in tandem with the activity sheets embedded in Complete RE and with each student accessing the visits on their own dedicated computer. In this way, the students can build their own understanding using the insights they derive from self-paced study. It is worth taking a little time to see how the virtual visits have been woven into the pattern and flow of Complete RE. Alternatively, you can launch the virtual visit of your choice by clicking on one of the links below: |
