Scheme of Work

The resource is divided into the following main sections:

Each religion is divided into five main subsections:

  • Foundations – founders and writings
  • Beliefs – beliefs and way of life
  • Worship – worship, celebrations and festivals
  • Virtual Visit – a multimedia visit to places of worship
  • Test Their Knowledge – a multiple-choice quiz.

To make life as easy as possible, a Key Stage 3 scheme of work is provided below which takes account of the National Framework for RE and its underpinning philosophy and rationale. Click on each icon to go directly to the relevant section.

To see the National Framework for RE, or QCA’s information about RE, use the links below:

You may wish to work through the material systematically, taking half a term for each section.

Alternatively, you may choose to create your own scheme of work using the materials contained in Complete RE but setting it up to reflect the values and context you have as an RE teacher. A planning document is provided below.

Make sure that you plan your curriculum map for the whole of Key Stage 3 so that repetition is avoided and coherence and congruence are maintained. You should also allocate resources accordingly to maximise the impact of learning.
