Countries of the world  

Starter

For the French version of this activity, students have to guess which countries in the world have the target language as one of their official languages. They then check their answers using the Web site http://www.kameleo.com/french/JEU-Ch0-MondeFranco.html and use the map as a guide to the French-speaking countries. The handout contains a list of countries and students have to guess those countries whose ‘official’ languages include the target language. Since all the countries listed on the handout speak the target language, students should tick all the boxes on their handout.

For the Spanish and German versions of the activity, a presentation has been provided, to be used alongside the handout. The presentation contains a map of Europe, and some countries are marked with a letter. Students have to match a letter to each of the countries listed on their handout.
