Starters and Plenaries for Drama contains the following sections:

• Group work – Starters and plenaries on the theme of getting to know one another, concentration and working as a group.
• Improvisation – This section contains activities which focus on spontaneous improvisation, storytelling and stimuli for improvisation.
• Techniques – Activities which focus on specific techniques, eg mime, movement, physical theatre, still image, face warm-ups and voice work.
• Character – Starters and plenaries which look at status, the use of space and developing a role.

In addition, there is a Resources section, which includes a list of the key concepts covered by the starters and plenaries, and references to Drama in Schools (Second Edition). Ideas for further reading are also found in this section, along with links to all the digital files and a printable version of the onscreen material. An Index is provided for quick searches.
