This is a Jewish graveyard. According to Jewish laws, the deceased should be buried rather than cremated. They should be buried in an unpretentious coffin, and be dressed simply.
It is necessary, according to Jewish law, to prepare a headstone for the grave. This makes sure that the deceased is remembered, and also ensures that the grave is not interfered with. Sometimes, the headstone is not put up for 12 months – the length of the period of mourning. This is because, during this time, the deceased is constantly in the thoughts of the mourners. After this time, there is a formal unveiling ceremony, called a stone setting.
