Traditional Judaism asserts that death is not the end of human life. However, Judaism primarily focuses on life on Earth rather than an afterlife, and therefore there are not many definite teachings about the afterlife.
As there is room for personal interpretation, it is possible for Jews to hold differing beliefs about the afterlife. Among other theories, they may believe that the souls of the righteous go to a place similar to a Christian heaven, that they are reincarnated through many lifetimes, or that they simply wait until the coming of the Messiah.
