Diwali

back02forward

Diwali is a festival of lights which celebrates the Hindu New Year. It is celebrated between late October and mid-November.

Lakshmi is linked with Diwali. During this festival, lamps are lit throughout the house in the belief that wealth and good fortune, represented by Lakshmi, will not enter a dark house. This means that, during this festival, whole cities, towns and villages shine brightly with numerous lamps.

Most Hindus believe Diwali commemorates Rama and Sita’s victorious homecoming after many years of exile, as described in the Ramayana.
