The Ramayana is perhaps Hinduism’s most important and well-known story.
It tells the tale of Lord Rama who was sent into exile in the forest with his wife, Sita, and his younger brother, Lakshman.
Sita was abducted by the evil demon, Ravana, but ultimately rescued by Lord Rama, with the help of Hanuman, a god in the form of a monkey.
The symbolism of the Ramayana has been widely interpreted. Its themes include good always overcoming evil and the importance of performing one’s dharma, or duty.
