Historical events  

Starter

This activity focuses on significant historical events. Students have to assign a date from the selection to each event or historical character in the presentation. There is no reason why any of theses dates should be pre-prepared or taught, but in order to satisfy the teaching objective it is hoped that there will be some time given to discussing, however briefly, each one. The teacher may prefer to assign events and characters for the students to research out of the classroom. Simple reports can be heard from the students as a starter to a subsequent lesson.

If this is done with less able students, it is likely to be through the medium of English, but able students may prefer to make simple presentations in the target language. Students with competent ICT skills can be asked to produce Microsoft PowerPoint_® presentations based on an historical character or event.
