Sikh spirituality is based upon the need to understand and experience God.
A Sikh’s life focuses on two elements – the first is the Sikh community to which they belong; the second is their relationship with God. To live a worthy life, Sikhs believe they should combine these two elements by performing good deeds with God in mind.
Sikhs also believe that everyone is equal before God, and that everyone has direct access to Him. Although God is often referred to as a Him, Sikhs believe God to be without form or gender.
