Allah

Muslims focus their lives around their relationship with Allah. ‘Allah’ is the Arabic word for God. Muslims believe in one, and only one, God.

Some of the main Islamic beliefs regarding God include:

• There is only one God and His name is Allah.
• Everyone has direct access to Allah.
• Everyone is equal before Allah.
• Allah is the creator of the universe.
• Allah is omniscient (He knows everything).
• Allah is omnipotent (He controls the whole universe).

Although Allah is often traditionally referred to as a He or Him, most Muslims believe that God is neither male nor female.
