This is the shrine room. The shrine room is often thought of as the very heart of the mandir. It is in this room that the murtis are to be found. Hindus come to the mandir to worship these murtis through acts known as puja.
As you enter this room, you will find a ghant (bell) nearby. On the floor, you will usually see a raised seat called a vyaspith.
The room is also usually decorated with various Hindu symbols. Covering the murtis’ shrines are large peaked roofs called shikharas.
