This is the exterior of Holy Trinity Church, the parish church of Hammersmith, London. This church is a Roman Catholic church. Above the doorway, you may notice a stone cross; further up is a tall spire. Both these features help people to recognise that this is a Christian place of worship. The main entrance of the church is the western entrance. The entrance is on the west so that when you enter the church you will be facing east, the direction that the sun rises. This helps Christians to remember that, just like the sun, Jesus rose again. To the left of the church is a graveyard, and to the right is the church office and the community centre. |
