Virtual Visit: Judaism

This virtual visit for Judaism gives you the opportunity to visit different places of worship via the computer in your classroom. It covers the main features of two Jewish places of worship, just as you might view them as you walked around. The furnishings, the symbols, the colours – it’s all there. There are written descriptions of what is in each photograph, with an explanation of the meaning to believers. Furthermore, there are activities for the students to do based on the visit.

The virtual visit provides coverage of the Model Agreed Syllabus for Judaism, particularly with regard to Attainment Target 1: Learning about religions. It allows students to explore key objects, places, people and events, as well as seeing for themselves what is involved in belonging to a faith community in terms of beliefs, practices and values.

The virtual visit can also be used to support students’ learning following a real visit.

When using the virtual visits for different religions together, students can easily compare the different religions and denominations, understanding their connections and similarities as well as their differences.
