Techniques

This section lists a range of questioning techniques, and also includes guidance on how to use them in lessons. For each technique, consider how it could be used in your subject, and how it might improve pupils’ learning.

The techniques are particularly effective when you want the whole class to be challenged, engaged and working together in a limited amount of time. They can be used as starters, plenaries or as transitions between one learning activity and another.
