Series: Managing Cover Lessons
Managing Cover Lessons - Science
Linda Elliott
Save time and ensure the productive use of KS3 lessons
Providing appropriate work for classes in the absence of colleagues remains a significant issue, particularly when supply teachers are difficult to find. Time is short and pressure on curriculum delivery is great. Failing to provide constructive activities that can be readily managed by non-specialists can cause major problems.
A real must for heads of department
Managing Cover Lessons offers heads of Science essential ideas and resources that save time and are easily managed. The pack is divided into two main parts. The first provides guidance and materials on managing and administering cover lessons within the department. It includes a clear, simple, well-tried system that requires minimal preparation and completion on documentation, yet is thorough and supportive.
A practical approach to student tasks
The second part offers a carefully compiled set of 40 copiable activities spanning KS3. Each worksheet:
- has clear, precise instructions
- allows students to complete the tasks set in the time available
- requires minimal preparation and equipment
- is suitable for non-specialist staff to oversee
- contributes to the statutory curriculum.
