Geography Enquiries for Key Stage 3
Liz Taylor
Enquiry-based assessments
To reach higher Levels, pupils must have undertaken some independent enquiry. Enquiry skills cannot be measured by traditional forms of assessment such as tests.
Assess work at Levels 3 to 8+
This pack will help departments avoid the very time-consuming task of writing new enquiry-based assessments.
The pack provides a set of ten separate units specifically written to assess enquiry skills and geographical content. The assessments are flexible so they can be used at any point during the course and can be used to assess work from Level 3 to 8+ by varying the amount of guidance given by the teacher. The method and end product would vary between enquiries to give variety and interest.
Each enquiry forms a self-contained four-page unit. There is also general guidance on assessing enquiry and specific suggestions for using enquiries and adapting them to different levels and classes.
