The Ka’aba

back02forward

This black cube-like building is believed to have been built in antiquity by Ibrahim and Ismail for the worship of Allah. It is called the Ka’aba, which means ‘cube’.

Within one of the walls of the Ka’aba is a black stone which Muhammad (pbuh) is believed to have laid himself. Many pilgrims attempt to touch or kiss this stone, although it is quite difficult to reach because of the sheer number of people.
