The Baptist Church is one of the largest Christian denominations in the United Kingdom.

There is no single distinctive element that separates the Baptist Church from other denominations. The name Baptist derives from the importance Baptists place upon the practice of believer baptisms. Baptists also believe in:

  • a congregational church government
  • the priesthood of all believers
  • the separation of Church and state.

It is the combination of these various beliefs that make Baptism distinctive from other Christian denominations.

The major Baptist beliefs are contained within their declaration of faith.
