Buddhists try to live their lives by the five precepts (rules). By following these precepts, Buddhists hope to gain positive kamma and become closer to their goal of enlightenment.
These five precepts are:
Do not harm living beings.
Do not steal.
Do not have improper sex, such as sex with a person you are not married to.
Do not speak rudely or dishonestly.
Do not use drugs, such as alcohol or tobacco, for leisure.
