The Noble Eightfold Path is a set of guidelines that Buddhists should try to follow in order to live a good life, overcome craving and gain enlightenment:
- Right understanding – Have the best possible understanding of life.
- Right thought – Use your mind in the best possible way you can. For example, do not prejudge others.
- Right speech – Communicate with people correctly. For example, do not swear, lie or talk about others unkindly.
- Right action – Act in the best way possible. For example, be polite and do not commit crimes.
- Right living – Work the best you can at a job which is useful for the community.
- Right effort – Try your hardest to achieve a good and peaceful life.
- Right awareness – Have the best control of your mind in order to do what is right.
- Right concentration – Focus your mind through meditation so you can have the best concentration possible to achieve your goals.
