Mahayana Buddhism

return

Mahayana means ‘great vehicle’, which indicates that this type of Buddhism is large enough for all people, not just monks and nuns. Mahayana Buddhism stresses that there are many different paths to enlightenment, and that all people should be helped to achieve Nibbana.

In order to help others, Mahayana Buddhists vow to become Bodhisattas. Mahayana Buddhists will often pray to the Buddha and Bodhisattas to help them achieve their goals.
